Today’s “Gunfire” In Tribeca Likely For Law & Order: SVU Filming

As reported by Gothamist, The NYPD wants you to know that today, between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., “the television show Law & Order SVU will be filming a scene involving a sniper and simulated gunfire on Elk Street between Chambers and Reade Streets, in the confines of the 5th Precinct.”

Playtime at Asphalt Green in Battery Park City!!

Spring in Bogardus Plaza

We here at Bond Tribeca pay close attention to what happens at our neighborhood park, Bogardus Plaza. I seems there are a number of improvements coming our way… Yay!  I received an email from the “friends of Bogardus Garden” and thought I would share it here…

SPRING NEWS A NEW BOGARDUS PLAZA An initial design rendering of the New Bogardus Plaza includes stone pavers, fixed and flexible seating areas and night lighting. We are thrilled to announce an exciting new development for our little triangle at the intersection of Hudson, West Broadway and Chambers Streets. Bogardus Plaza was recently accepted into the highly-competitive New York City Department of Transportation Plaza Program! With this acceptance comes the financial foundation needed to transform the plaza and garden into a true urban oasis. The $3MM project will be funded through a private/public partnership, which includes a $2MM grant from the DOT. The remaining $1MM is currently being raised by the Friends of Bogardus Garden. To meet the $1MM goal, we have reached out to local elected officials to secure roughly $600,000 in city funds, and have launched a capital campaign which has resulted in just over $200,000 in private donations to date.     The goal of the site redesign is to integrate the separate gated garden and gravel-covered roadbed into one seamless, 9,000-square-foot neighborhood epicenter. Design enhancements currently being considered include a new stone ground cover, additional fixed and flexible seating areas, night lighting and plenty of additional greenery. The design process will officially begin as early as this summer with construction expected in 2014-15. A GARDEN IN BLOOM One way to be sure the seasons are finally changing is to check out the garden! Now’s the time of the year when the 2,100 bulbs that were planted last fall begin transforming the garden into an explosion of color! Be on the look out for a variety of spring plantings to surface, including a colorful mix of tulips, purple alliumglobemasters, daffodils and more! We’d like to say a very special thanks to the families that sponsored the cost of the bulbs at our Harvest Festival last fall, as well as to the many garden volunteers that helped prep the garden and plant all the wonderful plants and flowers that are soon to emerge from the ground. Without all of you, the garden wouldn’t be nearly as robust or colorful!     A NEW BUSINESS COLLECTIVE BBC founding members includeAlan Solomon of Kings Pharmacy andNick Jabbour of Nest Seekers. The Friends of Bogardus Garden has recently launched a business collective to support the Garden and Plaza. The newly-formed Bogardus Business Collective is a group of Tribeca business owners who share a passion for our community, and who believe that supporting, investing and bettering the neighborhood is not only good for New York City, but is also good for business. With the support of this business collective, we will continue to ensure the plaza and garden are impeccably maintained, as well as bring newenhancements to the space, such as free WiFi in the plaza and new, free community events. We hope that very soon you’ll be seeing a lot of our BBC decals in store windows and on doors in the neighborhood. But, if you don’t see a decal at your favorite local spot, please be sure to letthem know you’d like them to get involved, and that we would really appreciate their support!
