Seasonal Seating to Arrive in Front of Laughing Man

After a much opposition due to safety concerns, Laughing Man, the popular Tribeca coffee shop at 184 Duane Street, gained approval from Community Board 1 to place seasonal seating on the street outside their store.

As part of the city Department of Transportation’s Street Seats program, Laughing Man will sponsor a 6′ x 28′ wooden decking system, which will sit flush with the curb. The space will consist of two sets of movable tables and chairs, two planters. as well as additional collapsible seating that will fold down at night. It is expected to arrive in May or June and remain until October.

Anyone can sit in the Street Seats, but I suspect that Laughing Man’s customers who often congregate on the sidewalk will appreciate this warm-weather amenity the most.

The Tribeca Team Presents: SUBLIMATIONS – an Opening Reception for the Art of Jeffrey Ben Berman on Feb. 4th

Join us as we present the photographic art of Jeffrey Ben Berman as part of The Tribeca Team’s bi-monthly ‘First Wednesdays’ series.

The event will take place Weds., Feb. 4th, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at our office at 25 Hudson Street, between Duane and Reade.

“This is Jeffrey’s second show with us, and we are thrilled to be able to host another look into his work,” said Tribeca Team member Jacob Fine in a prepared statement. “By bringing into focus crude surfaces and textures, his work forces us to reinterpret and find new meaning in the seemingly mundane.”

The event is part of The Tribeca Team’s bi-monthly ‘First Wednesdays’ events that are meant to promote community through art, charity and education, and to create a space in which local residents can meet, network, unwind and relax.

Wine and light hor d’oeuvres will be served.

Berman’s work will remain on display at our 25 Hudson Street location through the end of March, and we encourage the public to stop in to view his work.
